Fifth Third Bank today announced a grant of $30,000 to the Raleigh Area Development Authority (RADA) to be used to help Raleigh area employers assist their employees with restoring credit and strengthening savings through RADA’s unique “Employer Assisted Financial Literacy Program”.
The initial phase of the RADA program will target the Triangle’s larger employers and help their low and moderate income employees improve financial literacy, build or establish credit and achieve home ownership. The investment is made possible by Fifth Third Bancorp’s CRA Enterprise Investment Fund, which is designed to strengthen CRA lending, community investment and service performance across the Company. It was established in 2011 and invested $1.4 million in its first year. “Helping the communities we serve grow and prosper is a core value at Fifth Third Bank. We are very proud to partner with RADA to launch this program which can literally transform the lives of low and moderate income families through financial literacy and wise use of credit,” says Jada Grandy, Fifth Third Bank’s North Carolina CRA Manager. Contributions from the EIF must directly benefit low and moderate income individuals and/or geographies, designated disaster areas; or distressed or underserved non-metropolitan middle-income geographies. They must also have the primary purpose of community development.
“The $30,000 grant from Fifth Third Bank will enable RADA to reach at least 1,000 individuals with information and individual counseling to help them improve their personal and family financial circumstances,” says Wallace Green, RADA president.
“The tough economic times have impacted nearly every family’s credit and savings. This program, made possible by Fifth Third, provides a very impactful way for RADA to assist families in the Triangle and make a meaningful difference in their financial wellbeing,” continues Green. Employers interested in participating in the “RADA Employer-Assisted Financial Literacy Program” should contact Wallace Green at 919.208.2380.
